In search for my favorite cookie

Well traveling back to New York has me excited for many opportunities that lie ahead, but one thing I was definitely excited for was the ever famous NYC Black and White cookie (you cannot get this cookie on the West coast, btw). This not so little delight is usually about the size of a CD. It’s a puffy yet dense cakelike cookie with a nice thin layer of frosting. Half of the cookie is coated with a rich chocolate glaze and the other half a simple white icing.

This cookie is readily available all over the city (or so I thought). Last night, while exploring Times Square I decided it was time to snack on my all time favorite cookie. After numerous attempts at purchasing the B&W (Juniors, ROXIE, and deli after deli) I came up empty handed. Everyone was sold out! What??? I had never encountered this problem 8 years ago while living here…

I should be happy that my favorite cookie has gained popularity but not when it interferes with my joyous consumption. No fear, though… I did finally get a cookie that satisfied my craving. Stay tunned for where the ideal Black and White cookie can be found!
